The JASON Project and the JASON Volunteer Corps are accepting nominations for the 2011 Hilda E. Taylor Award. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding classroom teacher who has had a positive impact on his or her students, school and community through exemplary teaching and implementation of JASON curricula and programs.

This award is in memory of Hilda Taylor, a veteran JASON educator who died tragically on September 11, 2001 aboard American Airlines Flight 77. A native of Sierra Leone, Ms. Taylor taught in Washington D.C. public schools for 16 years. Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Taylor was a passionate role model who inspired students and teachers alike with her enthusiasm and love of learning. She remains an inspiration to all of us.
The winner of the 2011 Hilda Taylor Award will be the guest of honor at JASON’s National Educators Conference June 24-26, 2011 in Leesburg, VA. The honoree will be recognized at the banquet and will receive conference transportation, hotel, meals, registration, and a JASON curriculum Classroom Pack of their choice.
